Will McBride was born in 1931 in St.Louis, Missouri,USA. He spent his childhood in Chicago and suburbs, his youth near Detroit. He graduated from Grosse Point Highschool in 1947, having also attended courses at the Art Instiute of Chicago and the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts.
1948-1950 Study of English Literature at the University of Vermont.
1950 Summer study of Painting and Illustration at Norman Rockwell´s
1951 Study of Drawing and Painting at the National Academy of Design,New York City
1951-1953 Study of Painting and Illustration, Syracuse University, College of Fine Arts,Graduated cum laude, also with ROTC commission in US Army.
1953-1955 Military service with the United States Army in Würzburg, Germany, Infantry Platoon leader. Expert Infantrymans Badge Photography and Layout for two Division year books
1955-1961 Study at the Free University, American Literature, Berlin, and photojournalism for Life. Look, Paris Match
1957 Meets the great American photojournalist, David Douglas Duncan, at Picaso´s gate, is inspired by his advice
1959 First photosessions for Twen magazine, marriage to Barbara Wilke

1972 First one man show of photographs at the Gallery Christoph Dürr, München. Move to Casoli di Camaiore, Toscana, continued photoessays for Stern and Geo magazines. Beginning to sculpt and paint again
1974-1979 Different workshops for photography in Castel Franco di Sopra assisting Willy Fleckhaus.
